ALTERATIONS
The Styleroom Alteration workshop was created over thirty years ago in the original ‘American Tailors’ tailoring room, at the top end of Bourke Street Melbourne.
The workshop was an in-house service for anyone who purchased a suit or piece of formal clothing, fine-tuning the fit of the garment to make it perfect.
The workroom including all the machinery and staff have been moved to the Styleroom.
The expertise and exceptional reputation of the new Styleroom tailoring team specialises across formal suiting, dressmaking advanced alterations, repairs and the restyling and shaping of older garments.

Suits & Jackets
- Sleeve Length Alterations: shorten or lengthen sleeves to suit your style. Including moving or adding hand stitched button holes.
- Shoulder Adjustments: Alter the shoulders to your style, add padding if required.
- Chest and Waist Alterations: Tailor the jacket to fit your shape.
- Back Seam Refinements: Refine the back to smooth out excess fabric creases.
- Pocket Repairs: Fix or adjust any damaged pockets.
- Jacket Length Alterations: Adjust the length to suit requirements.
- Lining Replacement: Replace worn linings.
Trousers
- Hem Adjustments: Alter hem lengths to your requirements, add cuff and tape if required.
